Broken-down car stops all I-20 traffic westbound over Mississippi River Bridge

A broken-down car has stopped all traffic into Louisiana on Interstate 20.

The vehicle is blocking the one open lane westbound on the Mississippi River Bridge. The bridge is down to one lane because of a massive rehabilitation project undertaken by Louisiana earlier this year.

Ward’s Wrecker Service has been called to move the car, however there is no estimate at this time of when the vehicle will be removed and traffic resumed.

Some news outlets are reporting this as an accident, but it appears to be mechanical failure.
