VPD on scene at Buck Street for third 'shots fired'

Just before 4 p.m. on Sunday, several witnesses reported that someone was shooting at another person on Buck Street, near Grove.

Numerous units with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the area where they were informed the shooter ran into the wooded area west of Buck and north of Grove. Officers surrounded the area and began a deliberate search. They found the shirt the suspect was wearing but did not find the shooter after a lengthy and thorough search of that area.

As units were leaving the scene they received a report the shooter was returning to the area and swarmed back to the scene. No one was taken into custody but officers could be observed talking to several residents in the area.

It is believed the incident originated as a dispute between neighbors.

This is the third call in two weeks to the Buck and Grove street area for a shooting. To date no one has been injured in the ongoing dispute.
