Marley Bufkin is returning as one of Porter’s Chapel Academy’s top hitters for the 2023 softball season where she expects the Lady Eagles to be successful.

“I’m ready and I think we’ll have a good year but I’ve been waiting on this for awhile now so I’m excited to see what we’re going to do,” Bufkin said.

Bufkin led PCA with 18 hits in 2022 as she finished with one of the highest batting averages in Warren County last year at .450. One of her best performances was against Hillcrest where she went 4 for 4 with one RBI in the 24-5 win.

“Last year was good but I’ll never be satisfied because there’s always a chance for me to improve and become a better athlete,” Bufkin added.

The Lady Eagles are returning nearly everyone from last season where they were a couple of games shy of making the playoffs. They will now be under the leader of Carlos Dawson who was recently named as the new head coach.

“We have pretty much the same people returning and we’ve all gotten better this summer so we’re ready for anything that is thrown our way,” Bufkin said. We have really great coaches so now the goal is to play as a team and earn more wins than last year.”

Bufkin will be a junior this season where she’s entering another varsity year of softball and she’s expected to once again be one of the top hitters in the county.

PCA’s season will pop off on August 1 when they host Wilkinson County Christian.
