Burns named PCA girls basketball MVP
Yakia Burns has been as the Porter’s Chapel Academy girls basketball team’s Most Valuable Player.
Burns won the award at the school’s athletic banquet.
Burns led the team in scoring in her senior season this past year where she averaged 33.7 points per game. She even put up as many as 50 points in one game during the 2020-2021 season.
Burns led the Lady Eagles to a 20-10 season and she was coached by Casey Fisher. She was also selected as the Vicksburg Daily News Girl’s Player of the Year.
Burns will be playing for Copiah-Lincoln Community College next season as she continues her basketball career.
