Burns returns to lead Porter’s Chapel to a 67-37 victory over Benton Academy

The Porter’s Chapel Academy girls basketball team defeated Benton Academy in a 67-37 win Tuesday.

Yakia Burns returned from an injury and scored 30 points in the match, nearly out-scoring the entire opposing team. She also had six rebounds and five steals.

The Lady Eagles showed up ready to play and kept control of the game throughout the night.

Bailey Andrews, Sophie Masterson, and Macey and Marley Bufkin put up a strong defense and barely let their opponents score. Andrews grabbed nine rebounds to go along with her 2 points for the night.

Tiara Sims also played a great game, finishing with 20 points and three rebounds, while teammate Zy Smith racked up 8 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

The Lady Eagles will be back on the road Thursday to face Manchester and try to keep their winning streak alive.
