The Vicksburg Police Department responded to three separate incidents where shots were fired and shell casings were recovered over the past weekend. There were several more “shots fired” calls made to 911 over the weekend; however, it is not uncommon for shells to not be found after such calls.

As reported by the Vicksburg Daily News, Mario Luckett, 31, was shot after an argument Saturday, Sept. 14, just after midnight. Police are still looking for Jacorey Wright for questioning in that shooting. His victim was listed in critical condition. The Vicksburg Police have not provided an update.

There were numerous “shots fired” calls in the Drusilla Lane area on Friday night and early Saturday morning. Police later recovered seven shell casings, but no arrests have been made known to the Vicksburg Daily News. The Vicksburg Police Department has not released the details.

There were 10 shell casings found on Martin Luther King Drive over the weekend as well. The Vicksburg Police Department has not released the details.

Two arrests were made at the Super 8 Motel on Frontage Road. Two young men were arrested for breaking into a vehicle. Credit cards were found on the suspects linking them to the crime. The Vicksburg Daily News has their names but is awaiting approval from the Police Department to release them.

As reported by the Vicksburg Daily News shortly after it happened, a theft occurred at Crawford Street United Methodist Church during church services Sunday morning.

The Vicksburg Daily News will continue to report the news as it happens in our community. As always we request that you remain committed to supporting our hard working law enforcement officers who are putting their lives on the line for you.
