Former Vicksburg School football star Malcolm Butler is being inducted into the University of West Alabama Athletics Hall of Fame.

Butler is a 2009 graduate of VHS where he helped the Gators to a 9-3 season his senior year under then head coach Alonzo Stevens.

He played for UWA in 2012 and 2013, and he finished his career there with 89 tackles and seven interceptions. He also had 40 pass breakups. He is already a member of the Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame.

Butler signed with the New England Patriots in 2014 after not being drafted by the NFL  that year. He helped the Patriots win two Super Bowls before heading to the Tennessee Titans in 2018 where he is beginning his third year with the team.

Earlier this year, Butler made several donations for COVID-19 relief, including feeding 600 senior citizens in Vicksburg.

The Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony is Oct. 17, before the Tiger’s play defending national champions West Florida.
