Cable named as VDN Girl’s Track and Field Coach of the Year
Vicksburg High School’s Deatra Robinson-Cable has been named as the Vicksburg Daily News Girl’s Track and Field Coach of the Year.
Cable led the Missy Gators to a memorable track season this year as many of her runners placed 1st in multiple events.
Despite having a team built with plenty of freshman and sophomores, Cable and the Missy Gators still managed to bring home the region 3-5A Championship in April.
Under Cable’s leadership, multiple runners advanced to the North State meet including the 4X100 and 4X400 meter relay teams while nine individuals made it to the state meet.
Overall, Cable didn’t let the fact that she was coaching a young team stop her from achieving success. The Missy Gators continued dominated at multiple meets despite never having a home field advantage.
Cable is also an assistant varsity basketball coach and head ninth grade coach where both teams finished on a good note.
Cable is now the first individual to receive the VDN Girl’s Track Coach of the Year Award and we wish her well as she continues to have a positive impact on her athletes.
