Vicksburg High School baseball coach Antonio Calvin led the Gators to the first round of the playoffs this season.

Under Calvin’s leadership, the Gators relied on both seniors and freshman to come together in order to secure some district wins and clinch a playoff spot.

VHS started the season off with plenty of confidence, knocking off Laurel 16-3 in the season opener. Grabbing big wins against Callaway in a three-game series gave Calvin and the Gators an appearance in the playoffs.

The 2021 season was very rewarding for VHS under Calvin, especially for five players: Cameron Stamps, Derrick Brown, Datreion Kelly, Tyler Sanders and Kentrez Bershell, who all signed to Rust College to expand their career.

Since taking over the program in 2018, Calvin has been steering the Gators in a positive direction and under his guidance the team is undoubtedly destined for greatness.
