Calvin Wilson selected as Discovery Christian’s head football coach

The former University of Southern Mississippi and University of North Alabama standout football player Calvin Wilson has been selected as Discovery Christian School’s next head football coach.

DC, which is located in Florence, is going into its second year of the football program that was created in 2021. Wilson will replace Dave Herbert.

The school’s press release is below:

Coach Wilson is a former high school All-American at Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, MS and college All-Conference Offensive Lineman at The University of Southern Mississippi. He was also an All-American Offensive Lineman at the University of North Alabama where he made the All-Decade team after one year.

He graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi in May of 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary Studies in Criminal Justice and Sports Coaching.

He has extensive coaching experience including: Offensive Line Coach, Tight Ends Coach, and Head Middle School Football Coach at Jefferson Davis County High School in Bassfield MS, Offensive Line Coach at West Harrison High School, Offensive Line and Linebacker Coach at Harrison Central High School, and Offensive Line Coach at East Marion High School.
