Camaro lost to fire on Gibson Road

An older model Chevy Camaro was lost to an engine fire at the intersection of Gibson and Halls Ferry.
Just after 7 p.m. Vicksburg-Warren 911 received a report of a vehicle fire on the Food Mart parking lot near the pumps that was threatening a structure. The first unit on scene, Northeast Fire Chief Zach Hearn, reported an engine fire but that there was no threat to any structure.
Units from Fisher Ferry including Chief Mitch Lange responded to the scene. County firefighters Rodney Lehman, Josh Davies, and Neal Pryor worked the hose while Steve Cunningham and Tim Wood were there to assist with Engine 302.
Fire Investigator for the County, WC-15, Eric Jerscheid was at the scene investigating the event. Tools were abandoned near the vehicle and a chain was attached to the front of the Camaro indicating it had been towed to that location. Two individuals were reported to have left the scene of the fire walking up Gibson Road.
There are no injuries reported. The incident will remain under investigation by the county and no person of interest has been named at the time of this report.
