Camp Shelby warrant officer arrested for alleged sexual battery of a minor

According to a report from WDAM, a warrant officer serving in the United States Army at Camp Shelby has been apprehended for the alleged sexual battery of a minor in Stone County earlier this month.
On June 16, U.S. Army WO1 Joel Perryn Carpenter II was taken into custody for sexual battery, as stated by Major Amanda Schonewitz, an investigator from the Stone County Sheriff’s Department.
After receiving a call reporting a sexual assault, deputies were dispatched to Carpenter’s residence around 7 a.m. They then transported all parties involved to the department headquarters for further investigation.
Following his arrest, Carpenter was held at the Stone County Correctional Facility under a $50,000 bond; however, he has since been released on bond.
Upon discovering Carpenter’s affiliation with the base, the sheriff’s department notified Camp Shelby about his arrest. The investigation, under the supervision of Major Schonewitz, is still ongoing.
