Carol Gene Janes Spiers, 1948-2021

Carol Gene Janes Spiers died Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.
Residing in Vicksburg most of her life, she worked various jobs and then stayed home to care for her family. She loved spending time with her daughters and friends, attending church and mowing her yard. She mostly loved attending baseball games and cheering Jacob, Joey and Justin to “Hit that ball!” She has touched many lives with her kind and loving spirit and will never be forgotten. She was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Jacob Janes, and her husband, Elward Cicero Spiers.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Michelle Engram (Steve) and Elizabeth Alice Greer (Joe); her mother, Ruth Self Janes; one sister, Patsy Kirkham (Bobby); three brothers, Chuck (Wilda), David (Regina) and Wade (Kim) Janes; three grandsons, Jacob Engram and Joey and Justin Greer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
There will be a visitation at 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Jan. 5, 2021, at Glenwood Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Father Robert Dore officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell Kirkham, Taylor Frith, Nick Frith, Leighton Janes, Parker Janes and Trey Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Engram, Joey Greer and Justin Greer.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors who cared for her.
