Carter and Henderson named as VHS male and female Athletes of the Year

Tyler Henderson and Layla Carter have been named as Vicksburg High School’s Female and Male Athletes of the Year.

The announcement was made at the school’s athletics banquet on Tuesday where Henderson and Carter received their award.

Carter:

Carter had a outstanding 2021-2022 season as part of the basketball, cross country and track teams. She helped the Missy Gators basketball team advance to the third round of the playoffs and averaged over 12 points per game. She was also the district playoffs MVP.

Carter was awarded the basketball Offensive Player of the Year award along with being the MVP of the track team.

Henderson:

Henderson is a sophomore athlete for the basketball, track and football teams at VHS.

On the football field, Henderson led VHS to the second round of the playoffs, picking up 505 yards and five touchdowns.

Henderson also was apart of the Gator basketball team where he was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year award along with winning the best field event in track.
