Central Valley Conference cancels all Fall 2020 sports due to COVID-19

With the increasing positive cases of COVID-19, the Central Valley Conference in California announced Saturday that it is suspending all athletic sports for fall 2020.
The CVC Executive Board released the following statement:
“Coronavirus cases continue to climb across our state, a shocking 69% rise in just two days, and our region has witnessed record elevated levels of transmission and hospitalization. Citing concerns over their ability to adequately protect staff and student-athletes from the Coronavirus, the majority of schools in the Central Valley Conference will suspend athletic competition for the fall 2020 semester. Colleges in the CVC wishing to compete may request to be hosted by another California community college athletic conference.”
The Central Valley Conference is made up of junior colleges that participate in 12 men and women sports. The schools that make up the CVC are Clovis Community College, Columbia College, Fresno City College, Merced College, Porterville College, Reedley College, College of the Sequoias, Taft College, West Hills College Coalinga and West Hills College Lemoore.
