Chaney sworn in for another term

Circuit Court Judge James Chaney, Jr. was sworn in on Tuesday by Circuit Clerk Jan Daigre.
Chaney has served in the ninth district since 2009, after the resignation of Frank Vollor. He ran unopposed in 2022 and today marks the beginning of his full fourth term. He was appointed to the position in 2009 by former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour.
Prior to his judicial appointment in 2009, Chaney was a partner in the Vicksburg law firm of Teller, Chaney, Hassell & Hopson LLP, where he specialized in litigation, business law and school law. He also served as special assistant attorney general in 1977.
