Chester Jay Couch, 1949-2021

Chester Jay Couch passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17 at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery Veterans Hospital. He was 72 years old.

Chester was born in Jena, LA on Feb. 24, 1949 to Daniel R. and Leta L. Couch. He graduated from Vidalia High School in 1969. He served in the United States Army from June 1969 to May 1975 attaining the rank of Specialist E4. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device; and the Army Commendation Medal. Mr. Couch married his wife Linda Elizabeth Couch on Feb. 16, 1974. Mr. Couch had been a long time resident of Vicksburg where he worked for LeTourneau for 13 years and Cooper Lighting for 19 years. He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel R. Couch and Leta Thomas Couch; a son Chester Jay Couch, Jr.; grandmother Alzada Thomas; and step-mother Thelma Couch.

He is survived by his wife Linda Goff Couch; daughters Karen Elizabeth Cloud ( Michael Kevin Cloud ), and Amanda Lynn Couch; brothers R.V. Couch and Lester R. Couch; 2 grandchildren Michael Andrew Cloud and Madison Nicole Cloud; and a great-grandchild Easton Andrew Cloud.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson, MS from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A service will be held Nov. 22 at 11a.m. graveside at Winter Green Cemetery with Rev. Cliff Nelson officiating.

Pallbearers will be David jones, Nathan Jones, David Oakes, Michael Cloud, Kevin Cloud, Jereme Strickland, and Ginger Rippy. Honorary pallbearer Lynn Goff.
