On Tuesday, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department recognized Chief Deputy Christy Sykes for securing a grant from the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security in the amount of $95,000.

Statement:

Sheriff Edward Goods would like to personally thank Chief Deputy Christy Sykes for securing a $95,000.00 grant from the MS Office of Homeland Security. The objective of this grant is to provide intelligence gathering and information sharing capabilities. With a 24-hour emergency notification system, law enforcement and other first responders will have the knowledge needed to go into dangerous situations that may involve victims and will be able to provide critical information to first responders.

To date, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, under the leadership of Edward Goods, Sr., has secured grant funding just shy of half a million dollars disbursed through six different grants. The Sheriffs Department is currently working on a grant to secure funding for a Youth Center for the youths of Claiborne County. Sheriff Goods’ training with the FBI has afforded him the opportunity to network with various organizations to secured additional funding for Claiborne County and the citizens.
