Port Gibson Police Chief, Russell Dorsey, made an arrest this morning in an aggravated domestic assault.

At around 9:20 a.m., a married couple was driving eastbound on Magnolia Street and having a fight in their car, a white Chevy Cruise. At some point during the fight, Renarda Brown, 40, allegedly shot her wife, Antoinette Sayles, 33.

Sayles was struck once in the upper body and was transported to UMMC. She is currently in stable condition.

Chief Dorsey was in the area and able to respond quickly to the call in the 900 block of Magnolia where he arrested Brown without incident. “I pulled up on them and the female was walking, trying to get help and I flagged a car down and told them to get her to the hospital. I then arrested the shooter, without incident.” Chief Dorsey also recovered the 9mm Baretta handgun.

Brown is being held in the Claiborne County jail and will be charged with aggravated assault, domestic.
