Child shot and killed during domestic altercation in Jackson, shooter being sought
[Update: We have learned that Jackson turned himself in Monday morning.]
A five-year-old has died as a result of gunshots sustained during an altercation at a Jackson gas station on Sunday.
According to a report by WLBT, the incident occurred at the Jasco gas station located on Bailey Avenue. The Jackson Police Department stated 25-year-old Robert Jackson got involved in an altercation with the mother of the fatality victim, five-year-old Mariyah Lacey. The altercation escalated and led to shots being fired into the car which Lacey was occupying.
Lacey was transported to UMMC by a private vehicle for treatment but later died.
Robert Jackson is being sought by Jackson police. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 601-355-8477.
