China Grove accident victims identified

A head on collision on China Grove Road Friday night has claimed the life of a Warren County man.

Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess identified the victim as John Tapp Jr., 32, of Vicksburg.

At 10:17 p.m., Vicksburg Warren 911 received the first call of a crash in the 1300 block of China Grove Road. Callers indicated there were multiple injuries and that one person had been ejected from one of the vehicles involved.

Vicksburg and Warren County firefighters along with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Tapp was the sole occupant of a Nissan pickup that struck a pickup driven by Tanner Chambers of Vicksburg. Chambers and his two passengers, James “Jimbo” Halford and Gabe Stuckey, were transported from scene to area medical facilities. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Bailess pronounced Tapp dead at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by Deputy Robert Jackson.
