Christian Thomas Gardner, 1942 – 2020

Christian Thomas Gardner passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at his home in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was 78.
Christian was born in Ragland, Alabama, April 23, 1942, the son of Bertel and Agnes Christensen Gardner. During his early teenage years, his family moved to Vicksburg where he graduated from Cooper High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the City of Vicksburg where he was employed as supervisor of the Sewer Department. He was a hard worker and loved to tinker on things. In his spare time, he greatly enjoyed RV travel.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Rose Gardner; brothers Raymond, Jerry, James and Buddy; sisters Patty, Aggie and Kris; and step-daughter, Angie Stevens.
He is survived by his sons Rusty Gardner (Paula) and Donnie Gardner (Tammy); one brother John Gardner (Lee); stepsons Mickey Manuel (Tracia) and Kendall Stevens (Terrie); stepdaughter, Cynthia Stevens Boler; grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Dusty and Cody Gardner, and Michael Manuel; and great-grandchildren, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Cresswell officiating the service. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Gardner, Tyler Gardner, Tanner Gardner, Donnie Gardner, Dusty Gardner and Cody Gardner. Honorary pallbearers will be John Gardner, Ronnie Matthews, Ken Matthews, Henry Stevens, Kendall Stevens and Johnny Puckett.
