Citations issued to several juveniles violating curfew

Around 9 p.m. Saturday, Vicksburg police were busy rounding up juveniles at the Uptown Mall on Pemberton Square Boulevard. Curfew citations were issued and parents were being contacted to come pick up their children.

The curfew, enacted three weeks ago by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, prohibits those 17 and under from being in any public place between 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Officials say the curfew is in response to the recent spike in juvenile crimes as well as concerns of the spread of coronavirus.
