Vicksburg High School ninth-grade boy’s basketball team received a plaque this morning from the city of Vicksburg for their great season.

The plaque was presented to the team at the Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting that was held on Monday where Mayor George Flaggs Jr., Alderman Michael Mayfield Sr. and Alex Monsour congratulated the team.

The Gators went undefeated in the 2020-2021 basketball season and won the Little Six Championship. They blew out every opponent they played this season and made the whole city proud of their great accomplishments.

The freshman team was led by head coach Julius Williams who prepared the young team battle each week and didn’t allow his players to give up, which led them to becoming the champions.

Most of the team will now move up to the varsity program where they will compete on a harder level in hopes of continuing their success.
