Port Gibson Mayor Willie White has announced the City of Port Gibson has been awarded a Mississippi Home Corporation Grant. The grant will fund through the HOME Investment Partnership Program and is in the amount of $509,700.00.

Five applicants have been certified to move forward in a process that will provide two homeowners with newly constructed homes. The other four will receive home renovations along with appliances pending inspection.

“We are thankful to have been awarded this grant, and even more excited about the future of this administration,” said Mayor White.

According to their website, the Mississippi Home Corporation (MHC) was created by the Mississippi Home Corporation act of 1989 to address housing needs in Mississippi. MHC plays a critical role in working with the Governor, the Mississippi Legislature, the U.S. Congressional delegation, and others in the affordable housing industry to develop private and public partnerships throughout the state and nation to increase awareness of Mississippi’s desperate need for affordable housing.
