City votes to keep juvenile curfew in place

During Monday’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the board voted to keep the current curfew for juveniles in the City of Vicksburg in place.
On Jan. 31, Mayor Flaggs issued a proclamation of a local emergency after a shooting left one juvenile, 13-year-old Carleon Woodland, dead and others injured.
In late Janurary, Vicksburg police officers were dispatched to the area of Speed and Washington Streets in response to a report of gunfire. Medics were subsuquently dispatched to a call to the McDonalds on Clay and Mission 66. Reports indicated a 13-year-old was non responsive and appeared to be shot in the chest.
Several other calls of gunshot wounds came in througout the overnight hours. The investigation eventually led to the arrest of several individuals believed to be involved in the incident.
