Claiborne County Sheriff investigating shootings and auto burglaries

A Saturday morning shooting incident in the Hermanville community in Claiborne County is the second shooting case in the small town this week.
Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods says his agency responded to reports of shots fired just before 2 a.m. Saturday. Shell casings recovered at the scene indicate at least three weapons were involved. The Port Gibson Police Department responded to assist in the investigation.
At around 2:10 a.m. a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) was issued in Warren County for two vehicles alleged to be connected to the incident. The Sheriff said a witness stated that one person was grazed by gunfire; however, no area hospital has reported a victim seeking treatment.
In other incidents, Goods said his office took reports of seven automobile burglaries in the area last night including one in which a weapon was stolen.
He also said that his office received several reports of drag racing in last night as well.
One citation for a curfew violation was issued to an area homeowner.
Goods said his efforts to provide high density law enforcement response have been hampered by budget cuts to his department.
All these incidents remain under investigation.
