Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department warns of counterfeit money circulating in the area
The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning to the public about the circulation of counterfeit money.
According to the department, there have been reports of counterfeit money in circulation in the area and are urging people to be vigilant when receiving cash back or when businesses receive money.
The counterfeit money is said to be labeled “copy money,” but it looks and feels real. The department is reminding everyone that counterfeiting money is a felony crime, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable.
The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department is urging anyone with concerns about counterfeit money to contact them immediately at 601-437-5161. They are also advising businesses to take extra precautions when accepting money, such as using counterfeit detection devices and training employees to recognize fake bills.
