Clinton man arrested for assault after standoff
Officers with the Clinton Police Department arrested a 28-year-old man for aggravated assault Friday morning after an hourslong standoff.
The incident began just after 10 p.m. Thursday when a woman asked Cornelius Henderson to turn down his music.
Reportedly, things quickly escalated, and Henderson allegedly attacked the woman with a knife. After the assault, he barricaded himself in his apartment.
Clinton Police and the Metro SWAT team gained entry to the apartment around 2 a.m. Friday and arrested Henderson.
He will appear in court Friday for a bond hearing on charges of aggravated assault.
The victim’s injuries are not life threatening. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
