Clinton PD: marijuana edibles targeting children

During a recent traffic stop, officers with the Clinton Police Department seized marijuana edibles packaged to look like candy.

The marijuana edibles were labeled “Nerdz” and “Gumball,” in packages similar to Nerds and Mentos. The same stop yielded other controlled substances.

Officers are reminding parents, teachers and children to stay vigilant in case they come across similar products, which the CPD says are “disguised to target children and hide illegal substances in plain sight.”

“We need to focus on educating parents, teachers and children to the dangers of the potency of these products,” Clinton Police Chief Ford Hayman said in a statement. “Parents should be alert to the availability of these types of products and the potential that their children may be utilizing marijuana edibles.”
