Co-workers in Kentucky who lottery pooled for more than a decade win $50,000

Co-workers in Kentucky won $50,000 from a lottery drawing after pooling for more than a decade, WAPT reports.

A total of 17 co-workers in Frankfort, who wish to remain anonymous, won a $50,000 Powerball prize after pooling together for more than 10 years.

The group would have one person purchase Mega Millions and Powerball tickets for five weeks at a time and purchase new ones after checking the others.

The winning ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball in the May 2 drawing.

A woman in the group said she was alerted to the group’s win via phone call.

“I didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up before I had checked the tickets and wanted to find out about the claims process for the group before sharing the news,” she stated.

Each member will get to take home a little more than $2,000, after taxes.

The group plans on continuing to pool together.
