Community rallies to save loyal K-9 officer Zuma

Delta, Louisiana K-9 Officer Zuma is in Baton Rouge today for an examination and consultation. She was recently diagnosed with a congenital heart condition that will probably require surgery. 

Zuma turned 5 on April 12th. She is the privately owned K-9 of Delta Marshal David Beckham and his significant other, Nikki Williams. The Village of Delta has a small 3 man department and the couple maintain Zuma, who is trained in narcotics detection and suspect apprehension.

Recently they raised funds to cover the costs of the surgery through a GoFundMe campaign. In addition to the $3,900 dollars raised through that effort, an Illinois based K-9 group ‘Protecting K-9 Heroes’ donated $750 to the cause.
