Congressman Thompson announces U. S. Department of Transportation awards to MS Second District

On Friday, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grant funds to the following:

$482,883 This project rehabilitates 3,000 feet of Runway 17/35 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris. This project rehabilitates 160 feet of the existing connecting taxiway needed to extend the useful life of the pavement. This project rehabilitates 10,540 square yards of the existing apron pavement to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.

$ 269,618 This project rehabilitates 1,600 feet of the existing airport access road to extend its useful life. This project installs replacement Runway 18/36 precision approach path indicators to make the airport more accessible by improving approaches to the runway ends. This project constructs a 900 square foot terminal building.
Indianola Municipal Airport Authority/City of Indianola/Mr. Steve Rosenthal, Mayor of Indianola (662) 887-1825 $ 150,000 This project rehabilitates the existing Runway 18/36 lighting system that has reached the end of its useful life and requires rehabilitation to enhance safe airfield operations during low visibility conditions. This project rehabilitates the existing connector taxiway lighting system to extend its useful life and enhance safe airfield operations during low visibility conditions.
Fletcher Field Airport/Clarksdale-Coahoma County Airport Board/Mr. Daniel Vassel, Coahoma County Administrator (662) 624-3028 $ 270,000 This project installs replacement Runway 18/36 precision approach path indicators to make the airport more accessible by improving approaches to the runway ends.
Tunica Municipal Airport/County of Tunica & Tunica County Airport Commission/Mr. Eric Konupka, Deputy Director (662) 357-7320 $ 117,000 This project conducts a new pavement management plan study.
