Connie Prentiss was recognized by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Wednesday for her exceptional service to the community.

“She’s a champion of the classroom, she’s a champion of her family and she’s a champion at the fire station,” stated Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. “She’s leaving us and I thought we should recognize her for her championship and her leadership.”

Prentiss serves as an EMS information specialist with the Vicksburg Fire Department. She began her service to the city in 1999.

Prentiss was presented the plaque by Mayor Flaggs. She was joined by her husband, son and daughter for the presentation.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk also offered his best wishes.

“On behalf of the Vicksburg Fire Department we would like to thank Ms. Connie Prentiss for the 23 years of dedicated service,” said Danczyk. ” I think most of all, Connie represents what a good teammate is about.”

Danczyk stated to the Vicksburg Daily News that Prentiss was a blessing to have on the team.  “[She is] very courteous, friendly, caring and committed. She will be missed, but I am happy for her and the retirement milestone.”
