Murderer recaptured hours after escape from Parchman
UPDATE: McKamey has been recaptured.
A convicted murderer has escaped from the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.
Around 10 a.m. today, the Mississippi Department of Corrections posted information about Matthew Craig McKamey on its Facebook page.
McKamey, 34, was last seen around 6:20 a.m. today, Saturday, Oct. 5, at Unit 30, and recaptured around noon.
He is one of two men convicted of stabbing a 92-year-old Biloxi woman to death in 2005 and has been in prison serving a life sentence since December 2007.
McKamey, a white male, stands 5 feet 4 inches tall at 136 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair.
