St. Aloysius softball player, Kyleigh Cooper, is hyped up about her upcoming junior season, during which the Lady Flashes are expected to make a playoff run.

“I feel good about this upcoming season, and we have a lot of new players who will be valuable assets to the team. I believe we can go far,” Cooper said.

The Lady Flashes finished the 2022 season with a 9-15 record, which was one of their best seasons since joining the MAIS. Cooper carried her weight last year as she was at the center of St. Al’s success. However, she now has multiple players surrounding her who are just as hungry for a successful season.

“We aim to make it to the playoffs and have fun without too much stress,” Cooper added.

Over the last two years, Cooper has thrown a total of 319 strikeouts, and she looks forward to continuing her success on the rubber under new head coach Mike Foley.

“I feel like Coach Mike is a strong leader, and he will take us to where we need to be,” Cooper said. “Each year, we say that this is going to be our year, but this year I know we’re going to make a lot of people a lot prouder.”

Cooper was VDN’s 2022 Softball Player of the Year, and she is projected to be one of the top players in the county this year.
