Copper thief caught in the act
A copper wire thief was caught in the act thanks to an alert neighbor.
On the morning of Dec 3. just after 10 a.m., an alert citizen notified the Warren County Sheriff’s Office that a white male appeared to be messing with AT&T cable wire in the 4000 block of Warriors Trail. Warren County Sheriff’s deputies immediately responded to the scene with Deputy David Culbertson arriving first. According to Sheriff Martin Pace, “Culbertson observed the individual running through a wooded area toward Hwy 80 from Warrior Trail.”
Deputies Culbertson and Thompson were able to apprehend the suspect, David Scott Evans, 55, on foot near the intersection of Hwy 80 and Newman Road.
Evans who gave an address in the city of Vicksburg has been charged with felony malicious mischief and went in front of Judge Ed Wood who set a bail of $5,000.
Evans posted bail on Wednesday evening.
His case will be reviewed by the January session of the Grand Jury.
