Copper thieves strike again.

Published

on

On Iowa Boulevard, just past Walmart, about 400 feet of copper wire are gone.

Justin with AT&T responded to a service call in the area. When he arrived he noticed the lines down on the poles where Iowa Avenue intersects with Iowa Boulevard.

About 400 feet of wire are missing. The estimated replacement cost is around $5,000 while the melt value is only $150 or so.

Thieves will steal copper wire to make a quick buck at salvage yards. Many states have very strict laws governing scrap yards.

Mississippi is not one of those states.
