Corps of Engineers fortifying Muddy Bayou Control Structure to prevent more Eagle Lake flooding
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking steps to keep backwater from overtopping the Muddy Bayou Control Structure and putting additional water into Eagle Lake.
Workers are using sandbags to block the overflow pathways. They are hopeful that with the Mississippi River level dropping and the Steele Bayou Structure gates opening, some relief will be forthcoming.
The Muddy Bayou Structure is currently holding back approximately 15 feet of water from heading into the lake.
