County Prosecutor Ken Harper resigns

County Prosecutor Ken Harper submitted his resignation to the Warren County Board of Supervisors late Monday afternoon, effective immediately.

Board President Dr. Jeff Holland said the board will look to receive applications from persons interested in acting in an interim capacity.

Sara Dionne, chairperson of the Warren County Election Commission is waiting on guidance from the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office regarding a special election to fill the office.

The county prosecutor has jurisdiction in County, Justice, and Youth Court matters acting as the state’s prosecutor in a wide array of criminal and civil matters. Harper defeated longtime prosecutor Ricky Johnson in November 2019 and has been in office since January.

Harper had no comments about his resignation Tuesday morning.
