This morning’s COVID-19 update includes a case in Warren County. The Vicksburg Daily News first reported a case on Thursday afternoon.

No explanation for the three day delay in reporting was offered nor can we confirm this is the known case at Promise Hospital.

The total number of cases in Mississippi as of Saturday, March 28, is 758 cases with  14 deaths.

The number of cases reported is most likely lower than the actual number of cases due to the reporting method used by the MSDH. They are only reporting the cases reported to them. It should also be noted the location data represents the residence of the infected person, not the current location of that person. Calls to the COVID-19 hotline to explain why that method is used have not been returned.

“Cases of COVID-19 continue to be identified in U.S. states and in Mississippi. This is a rapidly changing situation that is continually being monitored by the CDC and MSDH as new cases are identified,” the MSDH website states.

“Mississippians are advised to take health precautions to prevent the transmission of disease, and stay in touch for the latest information on the situation in Mississippi” is the advice from the MSDH as posted on their web page.
