Crawford Street UMC hosts annual turkey dinner and bake sale
On Thursday, Nov. 14, the Crawford Street United Methodist Church, 900 Crawford St., is hosting its annual turkey dinner and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Church members will get together to make Thanksgiving treats and entrees to help raise money for the different missions that the church sponsors.
“It’s an annual event, and it’s been going on forever and ever,” said Joy Wing, turkey dinner co-chair. “It’s a way for the United Methodist women’s mission to raise funds for their missions. We do missions overseas and the states and locally.”
Each year folks come out to enjoy good food and fellowship with others.
“When people come in to eat, there is a lot of fellowship and camaraderie between church members, the community and people who come to help with this event,” Wing said. “It’s just to raise money for the mission and have a good time.”
Wing says her favorite part of the event is setting it up.
“I’ve always been behind the scenes helping with all of the committees, cutting the pies and helping with the takeout,” she said. “Just helping the people, getting things together and providing what we need for the event is what I enjoy.”
Tickets are $10. For more information contact the Crawford Street UMC at 601-636-5612.
