Crime Report – Several arrested for outstanding warrants on Polk Street

Vicksburg Police received a Crime Stoppers tip on an individual with several misdemeanor warrants.

 

This person was located at 1010 Polk Street. Police went to the location last night and arrested Jarrod Lee, 33. Mr. Lee was taken into custody for multiple misdemeanor warrants. MDOC also sent a warrant over for failure to report.

There were several other individuals at that same address that were arrested for multiple misdemeanor arrests.

38-year-old Dewayne Douglas 429 Lake Hill Drive, he had two misdemeanor capias warrants.

Todd Armstrong, 36, 904 Polk street, 10 capias warrants, one domestic assault warrant and one malicious mischief warrant.

These two arrests were the result of the Girard Lee arrest which the police received from a Crime Stoppers tip.

According to Black’s Law Dictionary, a Capias Warrant is:

“In most instances, a capias warrant is issued in connection with failure to appear before a court in a criminal case. A defendant who fails to appear at a criminal court proceeding, for example, could expect a capias warrant to be issued for his or her arrest.”

 

Lt Johnnie Edwards with the Vicksburg Police Department also reports the following:

  • July 31, at 12:25 a.m. a call came in reporting shots were fired in the area of Locust Street at Cypress Hills apartments. When police arrived there was no sign of shots fired.
  • July 31, at 4:00 a.m. Riverside Transfer Station, 80 River Lane, a call reporting grand larceny. The suspects took a Caterpillar 0416-EV backhoe with a value of $50,000.
  • July 31, at 10:31 a.m. there was a report of a stolen firearm. The victim came to the Police Department and reported someone stole a .38 cal revolver. She later went to USA pawn and recognized a weapon she believed to be hers.  VPD has sent a person to investigate the reported theft and they have a person of interest.
  • July 31, at 4:22 p.m. a call in came in reporting shots fired in the 200 block of Buena Vista Drive. When officers arrived there were no signs or evidence of shots being fired.
