Crosstown high school rivals play Saturday

Crosstown rivals Warren Central and Vicksburg high schools will face off tomorrow in both men’s and women’s basketball.

Lady Gators (4-4) will play the Lady Vikes (7-2) at Warren Central High School starting at 11 a.m. The Lady Gators are coming off a 51-48 victory against Northwest Rankin where sophomore Destiny Sims dropped 18 points and led her team to a big win.

The Lady Vikes are also coming off a big win against Jim Hill and will be at home against the Gators.

Expect the rivalry to draw a big crowd.

On the men’s side, Vicksburg High will be traveling to Warren Central to play directly after the women’s game. The Vikings are coming off a 60-35 victory against Jim Hill where Jabari Bowman put up 18 points.

The Gators played Northwest Rankin on Tuesday where they won 74-61. Peytin Jackson scored 23 points in the game to help the Gators (6-3) secure the win.

The men’s game will begin at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.
