Dakota Nevels, 1991 – 2020

Dakota Nevels passed away June 5, 2020, at the age of 29.

Dakota was born March 26, 1991. He was a long-time resident of Vicksburg graduating from Warren Central High School and went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard before starting his family. Dakota spent the last three years as a commercial sales rep. for McCoy’s Building Supply.

Dakota was blessed to have two sets of parents: Lillian Carnes (Chris) and Ron Luker, along with Tommy and Shirley Nevels.

He leaves behind his legacy with Marisa Nevels and their two children, Thomas Cooper and Charli Laekyn, along with Genna Hock and their child, Olivia Ryin.

Dakota is survived by both sets of parents, three children, and his siblings Alice Lukehart (Mark) of Crestview, Florida, Quincy Nevels (Tonya) of Vicksburg, Dallas Williams of Canton, Sevin Little of Vicksburg, Haley Luker and Levi Wilbanks; siblings by marriage Chris Carnes, Jr., Ashley Fillingam and Katelyn Carnes of Florida; grandparents Leon and Frances Luker, and Teresa Barnette; nieces and nephews Peyton Wardlaw, Hank Wardlaw, Hailey Lukehart, Emily Lukehart, Deserai Nevels and Elijah Nevels.

Dakota also left behind a “Band of Brothers”: Tyler Roberts (Lizzie), Michael English (Rachel), Victor Verdin, Tyler Luker and Brad Nevels.

Please forgive the family if a loved one of friend has been missed. It was not intentional. Dakota left behind many who loved and respected him.

Dakota will be laid to rest Monday, June 8, 2020, at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a chapel service at 11 a.m. All services will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Quincy Nevels, Dallas Williams, Devin Little, Tyler Roberts, Michael English and Victor Verdin.

Honorary pallbearers are Blake Rall, Brad Nevels, TylerLuker and Chris Carnes, Jr.
