Dates to know for the 2020 election year
The 2020 election year has officially begun in Mississippi with the opening of the qualifying period for the U.S. congressional candidates.
Below are some of the important 2020 dates for candidates and voters.
Jan. 2 – 10 | Qualifying period for U.S. Senate and Congress |
Jan. 2 – March 2 | Qualifying period for Judicial candidates – Supreme Court |
Jan. 27 | Voter Registration Deadline for Primary Election |
March 10 | Primary Elections |
March 31 | Primary Runoff if needed for US Senate and Congress (unlikely) |
Jan. 2 – June 1 | Qualifying period for Election Commissioners |
Aug. 5 – Sept. 4 | Qualifying period for School Board Trustees, Districts 3 & 4 |
Oct. 5 | Voter Registration Deadline for General Election |
Nov. 3 | General Election |
Nov. 24 | Runoff if needed for Election Commissioners (unlikely, majority required to win) |
