DeCorey “Noon” Knight Jr. is ready for war and prepared to lead the Vicksburg High School football team in 2023 as one of their top returners from last season.
“We installed a new offense and everybody’s looking good, especially the offensive line because they are well-groomed,” Knight said.
In 2022, Knight starred at running back where he rushed for over 1,000 yards as he averaged 8.4 yards per carry and scored 15 touchdowns. One his his best performances was against Callaway where he finished with 145 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
“Overall I improved on my vision and just the way I view the field because that’s going to show me where I need to go,and I let my feet handle the rest,” Knight added.
As a sensational sophomore last year, Knight was a key figure in the Gators’ ability to advance to the third round of the playoffs for the first time in over 20 years, along with winning a district title for the first time in over 30 years. He has now put last season behind him and is ready to help VHS to more success in 2023.
“We just want to compete and play to the best of our ability and compete for a state title,” Knight said.
The Gators will begin their season on Aug. 25 when they host Holmes County Central.See a typo? Report it here.
