Deer crashes through windshield in breakfast time accident

At about 7:30 a.m., an SUV hit a deer causing the deer to crash through the windshield.
A red Honda SUV with Florida plates was westbound on I-20 at about the 6-mile marker when a deer ran in front of it. The deer made contact with the front of the vehicle and then crashed through the windshield destroying it and part of the roof of the vehicle. The two passengers in the vehicle suffered injuries but they are not life-threatening.
Master Sergeant Kervin Stewart was at the accident safely directing the scene. Rescue and a fire medic unit attended to the passengers of the vehicle.
Traffic was flowing normally but slowly through the area.
The deer did not survive.
This is one of several serious accidents involving deer in the past few weeks, including one that attacked a police car.
