Fresh off their diaper drive with United Way, which saw great success, Delta Bank continues to serve by teaming up with Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital for its annual Band-Aid Drive.

Vicksburg Bank President Mike Curtis and the rest of his staff are eager to collect as many “fun, colorful, child themed band aids” as possible for donation. Community members can bring band aid boxes to Delta Bank which will match each donation. The drive ends April 28th.

Curtis, who started banking 21 years ago, graduated from Mississippi State University where he completed several courses in business and finance which afforded him opportunities in banking. Once he entered the world of banking, he never looked back.

“I love it,” stated Curtis.

He further honed his banking skills at the University of Mississippi School of Banking as well as the Graduate School of Banking at LSU in 2007.

Excited for a new opportunity, Curtis joined Delta Bank in December of 2021.

He explained, “It was refreshing to start something new. Starting a new community bank branch in Vicksburg was very interesting to me.”

Curtis credited this prospect along with the starting of a small local bank for the reason many of the staff left other banking jobs to join with Delta Bank.

“Being a smaller community bank, we are able to make decisions faster because we’re in touch with our community and needs of our customers, whereas sometimes that gets lost in larger banks,” said Curtis.

Mike, Branch Manager Rose Hodges, Commercial Lender and Senior Vice President Forbes Grogan, and Assistant Vice President Pam Pugh complete the lending staff.

Branch Manager Rose Hodges Concurred: “We have a great staff here, seasoned employees.” Hodges herself left her long term job at another local bank where she had worked for 41 years.

For her it was an opportunity to return to her roots.

“I knew from the age of six I wanted to be in banking. There was a branch close to my home. Every time my father went to the bank I went with him, and there was a head teller that took me under her wing who was instrumental in my decision in going into banking,” said Hodges.

Delta Bank gave Hodges and the rest of the staff the opportunity to recapture that same small town feeling in serving a community.

As Curtis put it, “Being a smaller bank, we have more of a hands-on service for the customer… We offer most of the same products and features of regional banks and we are proud to assist our customers in the communities that we serve.”
