A Get Out The Vote motorcade will be hosted Saturday by the Vicksburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

The Motorcade will be going through Waterville Estates, Elizabeth Circle and Riviera Heights to help raise voting awareness.

“We have the support of the mayor and sheriff,  so we will have a police escort,” said Elmira Ratliff, president of organization.

The Deltas have invited other organizations to join the motorcade including the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Mu Xi Omega, the Vicksburg NAACP chapter and the Alcorn Alumni Association.

The motorcade begins at 3:30 p.m., and cars will be decorated with signs urging folks to get out and vote. Participants are asked to line up outside the Vicksburg Convention Center at 3 p.m.

“This is a nonpartisan event, and we’re just trying to get as many people as we can to get out and vote,” Ratliff said.

The organization is expecting a great turnout for this event. Next Friday, it will be celebrating 44 years of service in the city of Vicksburg and Warren County.
